Gerard Roofs have been awarded the internationally- recognised ISO 14001 certification for environmental management. The certification was confirmed in June this year after the company instigated a comprehensive review of its environmental management systems over the last 18 months. ISO 14001 is a management tool that enables an organisation to identify and control the environmental impact of its processes and products. It provides a framework for a holistic, strategic approach to the company’s environmental policy, plans and actions, which are continually monitored and reviewed every year. According to Gerard Roofs’ Business Development Manager Grant Williams, the ISO 14001 rating will give the suite of AHI Roofing products (Gerard, Decra and Decragard) a significant marketing advantage and confirms the company’s commitment to environmental excellence. “It is clear that Governments around the world are placing greater emphasis on environmental issues and sustainability and seek to deal with like-minded companies”, said Mr Williams. “Gerard Roofs is pleased to have our efforts formally recognised with this certification. For years, we imposed stringent standards on ourselves to ensure good stewardship of our air, water and environment – before any prescriptive requirements were in place. It is reassuring now to see the pull-through effect from our customers as they seek to achieve zero waste on site and to ensure their environmental footprint is sustainable in all respects.”
